ABOUT THE GUEST COMPOSER



Guest ComposerSebastian Currier is the 2007 recipient of the prestigious Grawemeyer Award. His works have been performed by Anne-Sophie Mutter, the Gewandhaus Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony and the National Symphony Orchestra. His piece "Microsymph" was recorded by the Frankfurt Radio Orchestra. He has two new recordings of his chamber music released, one of string quartets by the Cassatt Quartet, and the other of mixed chamber music, by Music From Copland House. A dvd of his multimedia work "Nightmaze" will be released on Bridge records. He is currently working on large scale multimedia piece with video artist Pawel Wojtasik and the Ying Quartet. It will open at Mass MoCA next April. He has received many prestigious awards including the Berlin Prize, Rome Prize, a Guggenheim Fellowship, a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, and an Academy Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and has held residencies at the MacDowell and Yaddo colonies. His works are published by Boosey and Hawks. He recently finished a new violin concerto, "Time Machines" for Anne-Sophie Mutter.
