The East Coast Contemporary Ensemble was founded in 2005 with the mission of supporting the creation and performance of current art music through concerts, symposia, and outreach events. ECCE is an ensemble dedicated to the exploration and dissemination of the best in our ever-changing musical culture, and its goal is to help revitalize the connection between contemporary music and the wider intellectual and artistic community, and to promote new forms of engagement with modern music. ECCE's performers represent a variety of aesthetic backgrounds but share a deep commitment to the performance of contemporary music. The ECCE concert series focuses on music of exciting young composers from throughout the United States and Europe, and showcases the works of established modern masters. Composers John Aylward and Dominique Schafer are the artistic directors of ECCE. Maria Wildhaber is the executive director.
